Notes
Variations - (Pathanthara)
1 – alarucu – In all the books, this word has been translated as ‘crying’. However, this telugu word does not seem to have such a meaning. There are two words ‘arucu’- meaning ‘cry out’ and ‘adaru’ – meaning ‘frightened’ . There is a tamil word ‘alaru’ which means ‘cry’, ‘scream’. If ‘alarucu’ is correct, then it is possible that SrI tyAgarAja has used the Tamil word. SrI tyAgarAja uses this word ‘alaru’ with similar meaning in the kRti ‘bAgAyenayya’ rAga candrajyOti. As this word is given in all the books, the same meaning has been retained.
3 – kaluvarincina – This is how it is given in all books. However, the correct form seems to be ‘kalavarincina’.
